I’m setting up a workshop in the basement of my home and, after reading a bit, decided to use hard pipe for some of the runs of the dust collection system.
After buying some blast gates and figuring out how it would be arranged, I picked up 4″ PVC pipe and intended to clamp the end of the 4″ hose to the 4″ pipe but it’s too small. In other words, the hose inside diameter won’t fit over the pipe outside diameter. It’s off by an 1/8 of an inch or so.
I’ve read where others have used hard pipe so can someone tell me how you get these two things to fit together?
Thanks.

If you have schedule 40 pipe and fittings you need to reduce down to 3" then add a 3" coupler, the id of the hose and the od of the coupler are a tight fit but will work. On my new system I went with steel which made those transitions much easier
I'm not sure about dwv pipe.
Take a six inch piece of the 4'' pvc and cut about 1/4'' lengthwise out of it and then it will compress enough to fit inside the stock 4'' pvc, glue it half way into the4'' pvc and you will end up with a 3'' end the right size to fit inside of your hose.
