Does anybody out there know of a company that makes fabric bags for dust collectors? I am looking for a more effiecent weave than the standard bag.The machine is a Delta 2hp with a cushion shaped bag. With our dollar so low, a Canadian company would be preferable but any lead would help Thanks Jako

Try Oneida Air, or American Fabric Filter. I have the Oneida Bags, they are a Shaker Felt & work great.
I have a large upper bag from American Fabric Filter. It works great and they will custom size the bag to fit your equipment and shop.
Penn State also makes replacement bags that fit many models of dust collectors. Their main site is http://www.pennstateind.com, but -- more specifically -- you can find a replacement chart here:

I'm not sure any of these fit the Delta you described, but their bags are great so it's worth a look.

Look, I made a hat -- Where there never was a hat!
Thanks David
From looking at the site they seem tobe the answer. My dust collector is similar to a Dust Boy.but if nothing else I can get the fabric from and get it made up.
once again thanks to yourself and all the others for the help

Glad I could help... I'm not familiar with the other companies mentioned, but I know I've been very satisfied with Penn State.

Here's another vote for American Fabric Filter. I ordered a custom bag from them and they did a great job. Reasonable prices and best of all, they understand our needs, so they design to them.

John
Jako,
I just recieved my new Rockler magazine today and I seen that they as well as Woodcraft have the fabric bags you need so check out their sites and I think they will set you rite up.

Jako, Perhaps not what you had in mind but an option. I saw a cannister filter from JET that can be used on other collectors. I hope to have some real feedback in a couple weeks as I ordered one for my 2 hp Grizzly collector. They claim particle filtering as small as 2 microns and more equivalent surface area than many bags. In this case they do not use a lower filter bag but just a plastic chip collection bag. I had been considering Onieda retrofit bags and this filter came along. The product can be seen at http://power.forest.net/wmhtool/JETWood/SpecSheets/DC-Canisterflyer.pdf . The product I ordered was just the retrofit cannister or product # 708739 with a list price of $189 US and at the woodworking show they gave 10% discount or $170.10. I hope it lives up to it's billing. The flyer had me a little unsure of some calculations such as an illustration of a hypothetical particle filtered by a 30 micron bag 3 3/4" in diameter then a 2 micron bag would filter a particle 3/4" in diameter. Can we presume a 30 micron bag would capture particles 15 times as large in diameter as the 2 micron bag? If so then a hypothetical 3/4" diameter particle would be 15 x 0.75=11.25" diameter to be caught in a 30 micron bag. If any of you folks have first hand knowledge of this product please let me know. Wish me luck, Bill
Unless you are restricted by height I would recommend the bag that Lee Valley sells as a retrofit.
I put one on my 1 hp this summer and noticed a pleasant increase in air volume. (~$50.00 CDN)
The best thing I ever did was build a cyclone separator. 90% of the waste stays in the separator bin.
I have not changed the dust collector bag in about 10 hours of actual use between my Dewalt planer and table saw. ( I dumped the cyclone 2 times. (about 16 cu feet)

I am using a DC650 and a vortexing lid/can to remove rock-wool attic insulation. I even replaced the lower bag with a 3mil contractors bag to collect the blow-by. I took 380 lbs of it to the dump on Friday, and there is alot more to go. Given how well it has worked, I'm even thinking of using it to rake leaves this fall.
