dust collector won’t collect from planer
I have JDS dust force collector which works fine with table saw and jointer using the 4″ hose connected directly. However when it is connected to Dewalt 735 planer it won’t collect and spits sawdust out the infeed side. There are no obstruction. Both machines operate normally–the planer ejects and the collector collects. Any idea what’s happening?

Strange
I also have the DW735 and use a similar Jet dust collector and the combo works fine. And I have actually forgotten to turn on the dust collector and the DE 735 has actually, on its own, pushed the chips into the DC collection bag.
Not a clue as to your problem.
I have no experience with this planer,
However, I have run into this problem on other machines. When the dust hood goes on, and a board is going through the machine, there just isn't enough air flow through there, because everything is shut off.
On my old Crescent 24" planer, I used a 2" hole saw, to cut 3 holes in the dust hood, which lets enough air in to carry the chips away.
On my smaller 12" Delta, where the hose connects to the side, I cut the opposite end of the hood open to give more flow down the length of the head.
Some people are reluctant to cut up their tools from advice given over the net, and I understand. To test this, remove the fasteners that hold the hood to the machine, then run a board through with the vacuum on. The vacuum will pull itself down tight, but if you pull it partially away to let some air in, you will probably find that the extra flow of air fixes the problem.
You may be able to shim the hood away a little to let more air in. Just experiment with it, and I'm sure you can solve this.
Think of it this way. The area of your 4" hose is 12.56" You need nearly that same number of square inches of opening to get a maximum flow of air through the system. When you are down planing thin, but wide boards, some of these tools are almost totally closed, so there is just no place to get any air in to take the chips down the blow-pipe.
I have the DW735 matched up with a Jet hard filter(dust dog) DC. It works fine. As a previous post pointed out, the DW735 chip blower is very strong and will blow material into my DC without the DC on. It sounds like the exhaust of the planer is over powering the intake veloocity of your DC. I don't believe that there is an issue with your planer.

Won't Work
The dust collection shroud on the 735 is held in place by two systems: three screws and a turn & lock system.
The top of the machine won't install unless the dust collection shroud is turned into place, and the machine won't turn on unless the top of the machine is installed.
Chip plugging up?
I have a Grizzly DC and was having the same problem with my planer not getting cleared of chips fast enough. What I discovered was that the big flaky chips that come out of the planer would get caught up and plug the plastic grate located in the duct just before the DC fan blade. I'm sure the grate was installed as a safety precaution but I had to remove it. Now it works fine but cleaning the filter regularly makes it better.

Planer problem
I no longer have a 735 but I'll bet the internal section of the discharge chute is plugged. Get inside and trace the chip flow from the beginning. Cleaning a plug from the discharge end is not enough.
