my boss is willing to purchase one of those battery powered air supply dust mask and hood contraptions for particularly nasty demo work. it need not be certified for asbestos or truly toxic particulate, just good for all purpose blinding choking demo. preferably it would be compact, easy to use, durable and cost less than 500$. any recommendations?

The first thing I do in a demo site is install high velocity fans in the windows. They come in 14 18 20 and 24" sizes. The 24" pulls 8000 fpm, 3 fans will suck the dust out faster than you can make it and you don't have to drop clothe the other parts of the house. Of course you need an equal number of windows open in other rooms for air flow. These Patton fans only costs 69.00 at HD. With high powered fans you don't need expensive dusts masks, the double thick yellow strap ones for a buck is fine.
