FWIW, interesting experience yesterday. A 3 month old Dewalt Planer (the new 735) had its roller sprocket disintegrate so I went to the local Dewalt service center but they didn’t have the new planer part (BTW, old part looked a lot beefier than the new). They called the Dewalt parts headquarters and they said the part was backordered and they didn’t have any either. This is amazing that a manufacturer would sell a tool that it has no backup of spare parts or be able to tell an owner when they would get one.
Fortunately, I called my Woodcraft store and they replaced the whole planer with a new one; without that service, I would have had to stop all work until someday in the unknown future when Dewalt would get me a spare part.

I just got my 4th 735, I hope it holds up. UPS destroyed 3 of them for me. How did the sprocket fail?
It's a design flaw according to many users over at woodnet.
Call and get a replacement or return it and get a Delta
I hadn't heard about the design flaw; I wonder about how many are affected and whether they have corrected the problem. Thanks for that tip; if it goes again, I will go back for a Delta.
I heard the same thing about 3 months back. I don't remember if it was here or another forum.
