broken sprocket in DW733. The V-belt turns, cutters rotate, but the rollers remain stationary. I’ve found that it has a broken sprocket. I’m a long way from a repair shop, and they have a 3 week turnaround. Is changing a sprocket fairly straightforward, or is it rocket science? Ed in Wisconsin.

go to the dewalt page and look for the spare parts section. You should be able to find an exploded view and see whats involved.
Thanks very much Nigel. I'm on my way there. DeWalt was very good at responding, in that they suggested I look at the sprockets and how to get there. If I can figure out how to relax the tension on the chain drive, I'll be able to remove and replace the sprocket on the motor drive shaft. Ed

Just out of curiosity, how much service has this DW733 seen?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Hi Forestgirl,
My DW733 was purchased in '99 (about), but i doubt I've run more than 500 feet thru it, mostly oak and cherry. I didn't know of the delicate sprocket problem so am probably guilty of pushing it a bit. The DeWalt help desk has been very helpful the last two days, and I think they will see my thru my way to repair it.
I'm new to this web page, but already have enjoyed reading your postings. Can you beat the -34 we had here two nights ago. I suppose anything above zero beats it. thanks for your interest. Ed for Wisconsin
