When wood is dyed with aniline dyes, whether water soluble or aocohol soluble, is the dyed surface still a good surface for gluing or does the surface need to be free of dye in order to get a good glue bond?

In my experience you can glue as usual.

I agree..Most of my work.. I Dye/wash coat with shellac FIRST (Well, after surfacing) I then cut whatever I need for Tenons or Mortis or whatever..Never had a problem with final finish.. Well, cept for me!
Ring is right. Just dye won't interfere with gluing.
