Hey Jamie,
Took a drive today, in the nice weather, to Port Townsend to check out the Edensaw warehouse. Very impressive. They have a great selection of exotic woods, in very large sizes. Their selection of domestics is not quite as good as Crosscut’s though. Have you visited their Kent store?
We bought a nice piece of cocabolo, some walnut, some jatoba, and a couple pieces of ebony. They have a very impressive selection of ebony. I’ve never seen so much Gaboon ebony in one place.
I may buy some more to make a chess set, …someday.
Tom

Hey, Tom, sounds like you got some great stuff! I agree about their selection of domestics -- Crosscut draws me like a magnet when I'm thinking about alder or maple. I've gleaned a few pieces of 1/4-sawn oak out of the "regular" white oak stack too. At Edensaw, did you get your lumber out of the front building, or the big warehouse in the back? Did they have any of those gigantic slabs (cross-sections) of redwood in stock? Do they still have that huge bandsaw for sale on the front porch?
I didn't know they had a showroom in Kent. I've been to the veneer plant-warehouse near downtown Seattle, but not to Kent.
Gorgeous weather for the trip! Nick and I spent today clearing out our storage unit. Have to work some more on it tomorrow and maybe Monday morning. Tuesday, I'll set about catching up on arrangements for the NW Knots party.

Hey Jamie,Since the pieces I needed were relatively small, we gott them from up front. The warehouse was full of enormous slabs of padouk and hondouran. Didn't see any redwood. They must have sold the bandsaw.Monday, I'll find out from the butcher what the lead time is for the pig.Tom
"...what the lead time is for the pig." Cool! I'll get emails out to find out who's bringing guests. I count 11 people before any guests. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
