since I changed blades in my jointer, jointed board edges are always convex so that when butted together, there are gaps at each end. This situation does not bode well for creating a good glue joint. Any suggestions?

It sounds like at least one knife is set too low. If you have a short straight piece of wood that you can lay on the outfeed bed with one end just over the blade. When you turn the head by hand, each blade should move the board toward the infeed bed a little bit.
If you have an adjustable outfeed bed, you should back off on it a little, but always finish up with the last adjustment bringing it back up.

Each blade should move the board toward the infeed bed By the same distance.
