Hi,
I m finishing installing ducts for dust collection in my shop(4″PVC), the longest run happens to go side by side with an extension cord, they are touching each other during all the run and I dont know if that could lead to a problem because of the static created in the PVC.
The duct is 4″PVC
the extension is 10 gauge
they run side by side about 23 feet
I can move the extension cord if someone suggest to do that.
Thanks!

No, the static from the DC will not have an impact on the extension cord as long as the extension cord is plugged in to the wall outlet. The conductors in the wall outlet will safely drain away any possible charge build up in the extension cord. If the cord was unplugged from the outlet, then you could get a static buildup in the cord but this would not be detrimental to a motor driven tool, only electronic devices such as computers.
To a certain degree, the cord will probably help drain static charge from the PVC duct. I use 4" duct with a wire spirally wound around the outside to drain static electricity. Works very well.
Thanks Rick and Erick, I was a little worried about creating somehow a dangerous situation.Thanks!.
