Ok ,I have a couple more pics for you ,
the thermal shot is of ONE loose screw in a commercial bolt-on panel , the 409 is the temp of that screw…. in CELSIUS…..
the other was probably installed by the lowball bidder,
there is some debate over @ BT as to the proper voltage for this, (it is supposedly from the Outback…yes THAT Outback) 220,230,240, ….all in good fun… anyway

I like that. Looks like something from my last house. The hot picture is just a little spooky.
.....spooky ?"
A couple of questions- what was that garbage in the second photo and why/how do you have access to a FLIR?
that garbage.....is temp wiring in Australia....don't you have a FLIR camera , I bought it because IR thermometers are sooooo '02 ! hahahahahaathe picture is not mine, I just thought it would be a good example of what can happen with a loose connection ,I mean..that is almost 900 degrees F.... pretty damn HOTI"
Both the utility I used to work for and the one I'm at now have multiple Agema FLIR IR cameras for substation inspections... we'd also do some contract work for manufacturing facilities, etc. around the area that figured it was worth the $$$ to find problems before something burned up, rather than after. Close to $200/hr for a maintenance tech w/ his truck, travel and the camera, but for those kind of operations, a couple days of that was literally a drop in the bucket compared to what an outage would cost them.Monte
the cheapest unit I saw was $9K , the FULL package which included something for ....dewpoint...was $14K,and my pocket IR therm. "with laser sighting" was $59f ...out the door. those FlIRs are quite apiece of work , I hope I can get one ina coupla years , the GEE WHIZ factor alone is worth the price....
maybe I can rent one?"

Outback or not, this might be a low voltage DC setup, perhaps powered by a windmill generating to battery storage. The mains supply in Oz is 240v/50Hz, as it is in New Zealand, but can vary in extreme locations due to ?line drop.

....so this is normal ? is this the way people hook stuff up ?
