I’ve made furniture and custom cabinets for years, but I’m planning my first end-grain cutting board as a gift. I have Maple and Mahogany scraps left over from other projects but have read conflicting reports about using Mahogany for cutting boards.
Any thoughts or comments on using mahogany vs walnut would be appreciated.
Thanks

Mahogany is an open pored wood, walnut is a better choice.
I would also consider mahogany too soft. Walnut is open pored, but the pores are smaller.
