Hi everyone ! Complete newbie here but i joined to get expert advice. I have bought a English wallnut slice that i am making into a decorative sign for a friend. I have done a little research about epoxy resin to hold the bark in place etc, but my main quetion is, as the piece is already ’kiln dried’ do i need to still soak it in preservative (as i’ve read) as a first task ? If it’s been kiln dried with the bark and the bark is still holding well, epoxy alone will work well . It will probably gas out some and a second coat will seal the pinholes.
