Entertainment Centre for Large Screen TV
I’ve got a Sony 55″ Rear Projection LCD, sitting on the stand it came with, tucker into a corner on a 45. I’m looking for anyone willing to share plans for a wood cabinet that can sit in the corner.

Hi,
Sorry I do not have any big screen corner cabinets plans to share, but you could do what I did when I designed my parents entertainment cabinet. I did a search on Google and MSN images for rear projection entertainment centers, noted all the things I liked and them all together on paper. I then used Google Sketchup to make a 3D scaled drawing with amount of space I had to work with to see how everything would fit together. I then presented it to my parents and they loved it.
Just a suggestion that helped me.
Do you mind sharing your Sketch-Up file of the Entertainment Center for Large Screen TV with alll of us?
some cabinet makers have websites where their specs are available. I have built many kitchen cabinets using those. very helpfull with the basic width height and depth measurements, building a corner unit shouldnt be that hard if you are looking for help with proportions.
The attached can hold a tv as wide as 50" and about 27" deep.
I've got it on Sketchup if you're interested.

This is perfect! If you're willing, please send me the Sketchup plans.
I'm assuming I can do the two book-ends separately, as I may not have enough space on one side due to a door opening.
Thx!
Gerry
Here's the file.

I built the unit in four different pieces. The customer wanted it fastened to the walls to prevent any tipping issues (she said her kids like to climb things). There's two side units, the top bridge and the center base. The top bridge is supported by the two sides. The back panels in the open middle area are actually fastened mostly to the walls.
You could skip one of the two side units, but it would make the structure of the center unit much different. The top bridge and back panels would have to be supported somehow on the side that would be missing the side unit. This doesn't sound difficult to do but I just thought I would mention it.
From a purely asthetic standpoint, I would consider finding a way to include both side units. Because it's in a corner, the side units balance the large center section. I think it would look like something is missing if it only had one side. (Just my 2 cents)

Good point on the asthetics. After sending my post, I looked at the wall. I could likely get an end unit of about 8 to 12" on both sides.
I think you can also play with the depth of the side units and the depth of the corner piece to effect the width of the side units. check it out in sketchup. Depends on how much depth you need for your TV.
