Hello Ernie,
I have an older Delta lathe that does not have an indexing head. Is there an after-market product that will work or do you have some hints on making one myself? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

The Supernova 2 Chuck has 24 hole on the back plate so that indexing can be added to machines that do not have it. It is also possible to screw, glue or double side tape a wood circle (about 10" in diameter) to the ouboard side of the spindle. This can be done by attaching to a left hand threaded face plate on some lathes and by attaching to the outboard hand wheel on others. Lay out a circle near the edge of your newly mounted wood with a compass, dividers or trammels. It is now easy to divide this circle into 6ths. You can find the center point between two of your 1/6th marks and lay out 1/6ths again, between your original marks, giving you a total of 24 points. Now center punch on the marks and drill with a small number drill. Set up a suitable pin to engage the holes and, bingo, you have indexing for the cost of your time. (This is all to say you can spend time saving money or spend money saving time so its wood circle or Nova Chuck.) For Spindle turning the wood circle can be attached to a face plate with a large diameter hole in the center so that it can be screwed on over the drive center. Have fun!
