I just got back from the Pomona WW show. It wasn’t exactly paradise for someone who’s mainly interested in hand tools. But despite that I would have had a good time if those evil, base, low scoundrels from Lie-Nielsen hadn’t been there!
You won’t believe what they did. They placed the most gorgeous tools in the world right there where people could pick them up, feel their authoritative weight, admire the fine workmanship of their construction and marvel at the beauty of their form, materials and finish. Did they really think a hand-tool lover could just walk away without buying? It’s unconscionable! They are evil, I tell you, evil!
There was a mob of men and women crowding around the booth with their wallets in their hands–each one clamoring for the attention of one of the two reps.
Luckily I escaped. Injured (in the wallet) but still able to crawl away.
Luckily I managed to rejuvenate myself by looking at the people in the Jet and Delta booths, and recalling the many long debates of their comparative merits that have appeared here. Somehow that enabled me to resist the siren call of the tools I did not buy. They were invading my thoughts, beckoning to me, trying to overcome my self control, wanting me to come back and just look…or maybe just pick one up…just for a minute…surely there’s no danger in that…

You need to go see Frenchy and his recalcitrant wood buying group and see if they will let you join their 12 step program. :)
