Excuse for new tool(s) – rabbet work
I’m closing in on starting two ~ 18′ rabbets. A goodly portion is normal to the surface, and I can rough it with my wormdrive (AKA Dumpster Sally). This portion is ~2.5″ by 1″. The other portion slowly “rotates” outward, and it’s dimesion changes down to something like 1 x 1. The wood is my big hunk of angelique. (What I have to do is cut the keel rabbet.)
Suggestions??? Thank you!

Ed,Make and tack a template with the outline of the variation
of the dado's depth. the saw's sole will ride along the template following the curvature of the template. Stein. (I 'd do it with a router, as it is more accurately done)
Ed, start with an electric planer, finish with a hand plane. Rotate the planner where the rabbet "rotates" outward. If need be, tack a tapered battern to the side so that your 2.5in wide rabbet transitions down to 1in.
Ian (I'd borrow my fathers Makita jointer planner to do this)
