exhaust filters for finishing room
I have been using furnace filters in my exhaust fan, but they fill up fast, anybody recommend any other filters? 16x16x1 is the size i am using.

furnace filters work well enough, and are cheap, so you can buy a box of em. Or you can use a pleated filter of thicker mesh polyester type fabric. Best of all is to set up waterfall filtration sysem, but that's probably more involved than you want. Google 3M's website for filters.
Jim,
I'm not sure I understand your set-up. My spray room has filters on the intake fan so that everything coming into the room is clean. The exhaust fan is behind a baffle wall (about 8' x 8') of paper which does a fine job of catching paint particles on the way out. I don't see the reason to filter the air going out. We change the baffle paper once a year when it gets too full of paint.

Filtering the exhaust air will trap any air borne particles. Then you don't have any contaminated soil or run off.In my former booth, I filtered air in, and out. Filters in a hinged frame can swing out of the way for direct exhaust for blowing off a piece or ventilation when not in use.I'm sure many states have regulations on exhausting lacquer, and urethane voc's into the air. Commercial shops may have much more stringent standards, including record keeping, approved storage and a dedicated work area.
