Hi,
Well the James Krenov books just fell off the shelf and the itch for something from Pear wood or apple or any less popular hardwoods with it. Most of the places I frequent have the typical commercial cabinet maker woods, oak, cherry, maple etc.. and the tropicals are found at a local yard but if I want a nice slab of anything subtle….well therin lies my question.
I’m 1/2 way between LA and San Diego and would be willing to drive over a 100 miles for a good source.
Thanks again,

You must be aware of Latin American hard woods in Carlesbad then they are your neighbors.
I have recently moved home to Indiana form California, there is an apple orchard near me that is for sale I have been watching it closely, if the new owner starts taking out trees I am going to own some.
If you would like to send me an E-Mail in the spring I should know more then. Also there are numrous little sawmills in my area that saw anything, if your looking for something in perticular I am on the hunt for wood at least once a month.
