Experences with canister filters for DC
All,
I recently purchased a Penn State DC250SE 2hp DC with the one micron filter bags. When I bought the unit I was interested in purchasing the DC250 with the new canister filter or the Jet canister filter machine, but the both machines were backordered and the wife was going to kill me if I did not clean-up my act (excuse the pun). I know I can retrofit the canister filter on the unit, but I was wondering how happy you are with the canister filter and how well the canister filters work for you? The bags are kind of drag to clean..

Bobabeui,
I have the jet cannister. I love it, very easy to clean, but if sharp pieces of wood get sucked into it, they can tear holes in the bag. I use a zero clearance insert that solved the problem.

I thought the top bag dropped it's dust into the bottom bag when powered down. Dumping the lower bag can be messy but you need to do that regardless of what's sitting on top. UNless you mean washing, beating, shaking the top bag which I understand is not a good idea. The fine dust coating the inside actually helps trap even finer dust.
I'm sorry if I've missed something obvious--I have a 2-stage so I just set the barrel at the curb (or dump it in the woods). No problem at all...
