I saw an extension table at an antique show a few weeks ago that intrigued me.  It was oval shaped, about 47″ wide by 60″ long with the two end leaves in the up position.  The end leaves were about 15″ wide each.   When fully closed and the end leaves down, the table was only 30′ long.  When the table was fully extended and the end leaves up, the table was 165′ long!!!  Of course, the extension slides were wooden.  There was a leg attached to the center slide section to support the middle of the table.  I figure the slides must be about 28″ long when fully closed, and 133″ long when fully extended.

I want to build a similar table, and I would particularly like to build the slides myself.  But I have had no luck finding plans, or even articles about building wooden table slides.  Does anyone know where I can obtain plans for table slides, or can anyone point me in the right direction?  I assume I can just add slide sections to get the length I need, giving due consideration to an additional leg or two for support in the middle.
