Hello,
I’m very new to the woodworking world put feel ready to take on some larger projects like a table or chair. I have found a liking for SketchUp but am having some difficulty finding good extensions to use for cut lists or anything that could make the beginning steps of a project run smoother and add some confidence to my craft.
I just made this account and am sure I will be back with many more questions.
Thanks!

Take a look at Design click build on Fine Woodworking they talk about all kinds of woodworking extensions for Sketchup
My favorite cut list extension for SketchUp is called CutList 4.1 and it is available through the Extension Warehouse. As PalmBay_Jim suggests, take a look at the Design. Click. Build. blog. I've written about using the CutList extension several times over the years. Here's one post: https://www.finewoodworking.com/2017/10/18/get-cutlist-sketchup-model
It's important to understand that the cutlist is an output thing. It can only be as good as your input so you need to create your model accurately and with precision to get a useful cutlist. That's not difficult to do so don't let it scare you off.

Just an alternate method / experience. I've never gotten much use out of auto-magic cutlists. I use scenes in SketchUp for alternate views of my projects at least one of which will be an exploded view. I often have several exploded views as these not only make parts lists but, show details of joinery as well.
Those sorts of views are definitely useful and should be considered as an important part of a plan even if it's just for yourself. I find the cutlist is useful initially for checking the model. I can generate a cutlist in about 2 seconds and very quickly look through the list for dimensions that raise red flags. I don't normally expect to see any tildes (~) or 64ths in my models. If I do see any, I know exactly what components to check and fix if I determine the dimensions are off. I also find the cut list is useful for batching parts when processing. It's easy to sort the parts by common dimensions which helps reduce machine setup time. And of course it gives me the quantities of like parts.
