Im’m looking for advise on re-finishing an exterior mohogany door. The door is weathering badly now, showing sings of drying and shrinking at joints. It gets direct sun in the afternoon and wet from rains. I plan to strip or sand down to bare wood and fill the dry cracked grain, but I need advice on what is best from this point for a longer lasting finish.

A high quality enamel, preferably in a light color, would be best in terms of longevity. Leave the clear finish for the inside where the door is protected from the sun.
Clear finishes are all, 100% of them, high maintenance finishes. They require the best varnishes to start, and require application of an additional coat approximately annually, depending on the amount of sun. Every ding or scrap would need to be touched up promptly.
