My husband bought some wood glue, and I asked why he didn’t buy the kind that can be used outdoors. “All our repairs are indoors,” he said, and he’s right, but I figured that outdoor would be more versatile.
There must be a reason that people don’t use outdoor glue for all purposes. Is it too expensive, tricky to use, or what?

Dances gave you lots of good info. Keep in mind that a glue isn't going to say "exterior" or "waterproof" unless it's extremely resistant to water. That being said, Titebond II and III are plenty good in most cases -- very resistant to moisture.
