I can’t remember who I had the conversation with, but it was about a Northstate 37″ drum sander and how I was going to let them know how I liked it after I got it. I ended up going with the Extrema 37″.
After I recieved the specs and info on the Northstate, I realized why it was only $2500.00. It’s available through LeNeavue Machinery (spelling is wrong) out of Mass. I think.
The Extrema is an excellant machine at $4300.00 delivered to Michigan.
There’s some drawbacks of course. Talking to Extrema over the phone about their own product is very frustrating. It’s like they don’t know
about their own products. The lady who tried doing the wire transfer with my bank the first time totally screwed it up(delay).
I had to wire a male end to the junction box on the outside of the machine. I don’t know ditty squat about electrical, and I won’t mess
with it. The manual was absolutely useless. The guy in “service” didn’t know more than me about how to wire the damn thing. So I had to hunt down a friend of a friend who is an union electrician to wire it.
After all the dust settled and the cussing stopped, the machine is awesome and works great. I don’t know how a company with such a good product can have such
customer service. I got a free 3hp dust collector with it too, which was nice.
Bottom line, I would highly reccomend it if you can justify the price. But if you need to rely on customer service for alot of stuff, avoid this company, it’s frustrating.
I forgot, it weighs 1250 lbs. Plus the conveyer is the same as wide belt sanders. Lots of features.

It was I was inquiring, for a friend, whom I think is going to go with the Northstate, sight unseen. Why didn't you like the specs? What did you see that I might have missed? He found this co. in North Carolina, by the way.
s4s- There's many things that made me uneasy with going with it. The weight of a machine says alot alone.
Under the hood of the Northstate the two drums are just aluminum. The Extremas' first drum is aluminum and the second is rubber coated for the finer grit finishing. The dust collection on the Northstate doesn't compare to Extremas.
The Extrema has 5 pressure rollers, where the Northstate has 2. Extrema uses Baldor motors, Northstate is china or something.
There's many more, but maybe some of them don't amount to much, I don't know. I've only had the machine for about a week.
I'm sure the Northstate is fine. I really liked the piece of mind of a Baldor motor though. John E. Nanasy
Thanks. I have passed your post along to him. I have offered no advice on this one.
