Anyone have experience fabbing corian or similar type material? I’m looking to put in a kitchen counter top of a brand similar to corian, “Mystera”. I’m only looking to put about a 1/2″ round over on it. Any advice on cutting it?
thanks

Head over to Breaktime -- there's a similar thread going on there now. Consensus seems to be cut it with a carbide saw close to final, and then go to final with a router. However, there are enough disclaimers that it may cause you to rethink this as a DIY.

Found it, thanks
You betcha.
I've never tried to fab a countertop out of Corian, but I have done a few shower surrounds out of the stuff. I usually cut it with a router. Blew up a $300 sheet doing this one time. Gave out a lot of Corian coasters for Christmas presents that year! ;-)

Mike,I'm doing a custom kitchen for a buddy. I'm thinking I'll just pass on the counter top.
Based on its reputation for workability with woodworking tools, I had considered going to the class and getting certified so that I could do my own kitchen. (In theory, you have to be certified to buy the stuff. Do you really???? I don't know.)Then I did a lot of reading on the subject, and dropped that idea.
1) hard to get into the class around here
2) corian apparently creates an AMAZING amount of fine dust when its worked - the pictures in all the articles show the craftsman and his entire surroundings covered with the stuff. Not so good for my basement shop.Mike D
