Any one remember an article in recent times about a tracked gantry style device to accurate guide router on a roller system in two axis(length and width) for face joining of large boards?
There was one easily 20 + yrs ago in the magazine but I thought I saw one more recently but I am not sure where.
Thanks

Thanks Don I know about Legacy though they are geared to ornamental turning etc. and in addition I would need much wider capacity.
I was referring to shop built x -y track system. I design woodworking devices but thought I would refresh my memory from article(s)

Stormin, there is a horizontal mortising machine that works on an x-y axis as you described. Similar to a multi -router. It is in issue 68 vol 12 of "shop notes"( March 2003) Is that what you had in mind??? Try http://www.shopnotes.com you may find some info. Len
Thanks no It was planfor x y router travel over the length and width of board to fly cut it flat when boards are wider than jointer at hand or too big for "sled" jointing in planer. One article was over 20 yrs ago and I thought another was more recent.
I invented the xyz mortiser that was theinspiration for the Leigh mortise and tenon machine.
The only recent article I noticed was in Wood magazine's current issue. There were no rollers involved though, just a router-carrying sled with handles, which slides on referencing boards that the stock is wedged into. We've had a couple of vigorous discussions about the technique, LOL.
The magazine should still be at your newstand. Not sure why you would need rollers.

Thanks Too prevent binding when flycutting surface of large board it is best to have roller or linear bearings. As we have woodworking and machine shop it is no problem to make one just wanted to see what others had done.
