In the last fine woodworking artical “a fast drying finish, Roland Johnson said he used a combination of alki varnish and gun spitit of terp. plus other ingrediants. I havent heard of these two ingrediants. Who is the manufacture or can any varnish and terp do for this formula? Help a new finisher. Thanks

gum spirits of turpentine is just the long, official name for turpentine. You can buy it at any paint store or home center.
The varnish is alkyd varnish. Again, a common product, made by several manufactuerers, and available at any good paint store or home center.
Hope this helps,
