As far as nail guns are concerned, what is the difference between a pin, a brad, and a finishing nail?

Size does matter!
A pin and brad are the same thing, a finish nail is larger diameter and longer.
Don't buy based on terms. Figure out what range of lengths you want to shoot and get the gun based on that.

From my experience with air guns a pin gun shoots headless pins while a brad has a small head.
Well, live and learn...
Thanks Rick.

a pin is headless
a brad is smaller than 4d, has a bulbous head and is sold by length and guage
a finish nail lacks the discus head that demarcates a common nail. finish and common nails are sold by their denari size.
a "nail" 20d and larger is a spike
good luck rg
