If I feed with the grain on the jointer is it correct to turn end for end to run throught the planner the opposite direction since the jointer & planner spin the same direction but the jointer cuts the bottom face while the planer cuts the top face

grain direction is the key
No matter the jointer or the planer, if you want the 'best' result be sure that the grain is tailing away from the blades towards the end of the board that is the last to go thru the blades. Away from the blades no matter which device you use. And the same holds true at the table saw. The bandsaw, not so much.
