Feedback on a Delta RT 30 table saw?
I would appreciate anyones feedback good or bad about the Delta RT 30 table saw. I am in the market for a professional grade saw and have done my homework and tried a number of my colleges saws. I came across this saw manufactured in 1985 and I’m considering buying it. Its a big cabinet saw w/ a massive table. It has a single phase 5 hp motor. Its easy to raise this saw up/down, the tilt is a little difficult, the table appears flat and the stock fence is large, smooth and true. I’ve tried to find anything about it online as I’ve never heard of this saw before. The only thing I came up with was the RT 40 which is larger and has a 3 phase 7.5 hp motor however there were no consumer reports. I am considering buying it but I would appreciate any feedback from one who has experience w/ this saw. I don’t like uneducated buys. Thanks.

Is the saw a 10"? I believe the RT 30 is just a 10" version of the RT 40. There was a time when Delta made a smaller version of all their industrial machines, there used to be a DJ 10 (6" version of the DJ 20), same with their industrial RAS. The RT line of saw are truely industrial machines that will perform perfectly forever in a comercial shop.

I wish I took a picture of the manufacturer's plate. The emblem on the cabinet did read RT 30 but the saw can fit 16'' blades. With the info I was able to find the RT 40 also took 16'' blades. The noticeable difference was the 40 had a 3 phase 7.5 hp motor. Thanks for the feedback. Since I had never seen or heard of this saw before (the RT series) I just wanted to make sure someone had . . . and it wasn't a saw that under performed so Delta pulled it from manufacturing. It is a beautiful machine . . . runs quiet, no vibration - I was going to buy a Grizzly 1023 but I've changed my mind.
I was guessing about the blade capacity, and it looks like I was way off. But I'll stand by my belief that if it looks at all like the current RT saws then it is a heck of a saw. It is the kind of saw that is often fitted with a power feeder and ran all day. Two considerations are the arbor size (is it 1" or the less common 1 1/4") and if you choose to use a 12" blade will the depth of cut be diminished too much.

I'm not familiar with the RT-30 but the RT saws were and still are made in Brazil by Invicta as well as the RC33 13" planer and DJ 20 8" jointer before Delta shipped their production to the Far East. Rockwell and later Pentair had the controlling interest in Invicta. There's an RT-31 listed on their website - whether it's the same I couldn't say. http://www.invicta.com.br/usa/linha_convencional.htm A call to one of the US distributors http://www.invicta-usa.com/ might give you more info on the RT 30 as well as current parts availability.
Delta RT40 feedback
i wanted to clear up what a RT40 is. I've had one for years and love it. It is a standard fixed table, table saw .
The Delta RT30 is its twin, accept that it has a sliding table. My saw as well as the 30 can take up to a 16" blade.
They typically have 3ph 7hp motors on them. They have a 1" arbor, and weight roughly 3 times that of my 1960's vintage
unisaw. They are a woderful solid saw .
