I sand for a living, worse I sand other peoples work. I custom stain and finish in the field in high end homes. Libraries, media rooms, pubs, foyers etc., with coffered ceilings, Floor to ceiling raised panels, curved built-ins, and bookcases. Most common woods are mahogany and cherry. My job is to take it from where I find it and to a dining room table quality finish.Moldings are often right off the shaper, and 1x right from the planer; hence the sanding. Commercially made hardwood plywood with paper thin vaneers are part of every job.I have found this to be very hard work that must be done carefully. Dust is a big concern. In these big houses, the homeowners have moved in while I am working. Portable dust collectors are necessary in climate controlled homes, not to mention the electronics the can be damaged! The I discoveded Festool. I researched Festool starting with the knots site, and wanted to give my experences back to others. The are fantastic! I only wish I had them 10 years ago.I bought 2 CM33 vacs, RS400EG, DS400EG, ES125EQ, and LS130EQ. With extra long anti-static hoses, sandpaper, and systainers with inserts for the paper I spent $2500. I bought them through my local Woodcraft store because I want to be able to pick up supplies in a hurry. The machines are a joy to use, even making overhead sanding possible all day. The dust is non existant, and the constant drone the numbed my mind, has gone. I would recommend without reservation Festool to everyone. On a personal note, I had been using Bosch equiptment, and I like their products, but I gave them to friends. I started as an apprentice in 1966 . |

Gregory,
Just noticed this discussion, even though it was up in August. I think it came to the surface with the shuffling of the new forum.
Anyway, glad to hear your remarks about Festool. I feel the same way! In fact, I feel so strongly about them, I created a tool forum just for Festool users.
