A question to the group regarding Festool sources. I live in eastern PA and need to buy several Festool tools. Local suppliers are rare, and their stock is scanty. I’d like to mail order purchase the 1400 router and a circular saw. Any particular recommendations as to suppliers? From what I’ve seen, prices are pretty consistent. What I am after is web- or mail order suppliers with good records on honesty, delivery, customer service, etc. Any insights would be appreciated- both those to consider and those to avoid,

Glaucon,
Festool prices are the same no matter where you live. Festool has a sales system that is different from other companies, relying on sales agents throughout the country. You order the tools and they are always delivered.
As far as reliable dealers goes, the person I have bought my Festool tools from (and I have bought a lot of them) is Bob Marino. He's great to work with and he knows everything about the tools. His emial address is [email protected].
If you want to find out more about Festool tools, and contact Bob, check out the Festool Owners Group, which I moderate on Yahoo:

The Woodcraft dealer in Downingtown PA sells Festool. I checked the Woodcraft site but do not see the brand there. If the other sources don't pan out give the guys in Downingtown a call...they're good to deal with.
Last time I was in the store the owner was showing me the Festool random orbit sander and wanted to get me into the shop to try it out. Since I was on the way to a client meeting I was wearing my "Sunday go to meetings outfit" so I had to pass.
Meanwhile I've got two PC 333 sanders that are on their last legs (bearings). I'm told the Festool sander will outlast me. Is this true? Also, what do I do with the huge number of 5 inch, 5-hole sanding disks I've accumulated?
I typically just purchase from the festool-usa.com website. All a dealer does is place your order with festool and then festool ships it to them or you. You pay the shipping either way and if you place the order it should be right?
There east coast wharehouse is in VA so it only takes two days to get to NJ.
The only place you kind find a discounted festool is on ebay but they are almost full price.
If you have to ask someone questions I have heard good things about bob marino and Mcfeeleys.

As stated earlier, most, if not all Woodcraft stores are carrying the Festool stuff. The one in my area actually let me take one of the tools into their shop to try it out, which is a major advantage if you have only seen them in ads or on the internet. But even if you buy from them, they merely take the order, and the tool is shipped directly from Festool.
Festool is set up to sell direct as well. I have not yet used him, but Bob Merino (site noted in Matthew Schenker's post) is an independent sales agent, who gets a lot of good press for being both informative and helpful.
Since the prices are the same wherever you go, it is pretty much a matter of who you want to give your business to. I bought my first tool from Woodcraft, but in the future, I am going to try Bob -- since I like the idea of being able to go back to an individual with any questions or problems that arise.
In this age of declining quality among the old line brands, you will certainly not have any quality issues with the Festool products -- but they will make you pay dearly for the privilege.
Thanks to all for your good advice. I'm glad to hear that so many of you have had a positive experience ordering Festool. I'll let you know how I make out...
