Help! The hard maple butcher block countertop in my kitchen suffered water damage from a leak, as a result of which it delaminated in one spot. It was sanded down and is otherwise fine except for a gap between two pieces. Is there any kind of food-safe filler that I can use to close the gap so that food, etc. won’t get into it? Thanks!

It is best to glue it and clamp it.
BEN ,
If the area is large enough try and make a wedge shaped piece to fit in. Clean old glue as much as possible , glue in the wedge tap it down , leave it proud then plane or sand it flush. If you can't fit a piece of wood in there , then you can fill any voids and cracks with paraffin wax .
good luck dusty
