Howdy Knotheads 🙂
Ever since WoodWorkers Wrhse folded, it is a PITA to find all those little things that they carried.
like special router bits
butcher block finish
Brad point bits
tapered countersinks
drawer slides and cup hinges
Specialty tools
……………
Anyone in the southern tier NY / northern tier PA find a good alternative? For a while in the 90’s, it looked like Woodworkers Supply was goig to expand.
But WWW put a store near all of thier branches and they shut them down.
shame…
Thanks in advance

Mr. T, me and my big collile dog want to know: What kinds of special router bits, what kinds of "specialty tools."

I'm a carp who works mostly in remodeling.
so I never know when I'll run into an excuse to buy a special tool( or any other kind of tool)
One instance that comes to mind is when I was pitting in some floor outlets.
The main hole is bored by a 4" hole saw but you need an odd sized rabbet around the edge. one my rabbeting bit wouldn't do.
So I goes to WWW and get thier brand of rabbet (Diff. from mine)
And use one bearing on the other bit.
VIOLA! 3/16" rabbit!!
This AM I was looking for Mug Pegs.
You think any of the big boxes had them?
oh well guess I can order them and wait till next weekend.
And any tool junkie knows there is a certain "Je ne sais quoi" about laying your hands on a new tool before you buy.
kinda like the diff between phone sexx and the real thing(a friend told me about phone sexx) :P

I will certainly not miss their presence. The router bits were junk. There's plenty of other places to buy whether online or through the catalogs. Lee Valley, Woodcraft,Woodworkers Supply, etc and the quality and selection is much better than WWW. http://www.mcmaster.com is an industrial supply catalog but has bradpoint bits and will deliver in 24 hrs regular UPS http://www.wlfuller.com in RI will get to you next day as well for drill bits and countersinks. Go to the links page or pick up any woodworking mag for more. The links at http://www.woodcentral.com has good sources as well.
Recently I went into a local hardware wholesaler to the cabinet industry. They not only had the hinges I wanted but they also had the complete line of Freud, CMT, Whiteside and Tenryu in stock. You most likely have similar suppliers, they are not known because they only deal B to B. Mug and shaker pegs can be found at craft supply stores like A. C. Moore. You can probably find many of the same or similar items that Woodworkers carried close by but not all in one place. I know what you're going through, Rockler is going to take WWW's place here. I needed some hide glue last week and could not find it anywhere locally. I wonder what happened to WWW, they were always busy.
