This one is for Ben…
I suppose I am missing something obvious, but when looking on the FWW
website for past issues, I have to first click past all previous issues
to get to the one I want. If it’s an old number, this is tedious and, well,
kinda dumb. Isn’t there a better way?
I’m from the academic world (I’ve escaped, though) where finding an
old journal article requires just plugging in the issue and page numbers
on the journal website before, boom, up it pops.

Good question and I hope someone has the answer. I've tried finding older issues or shoptalk live episodes from before I subscribed, just for something interesting when I have down time. Typing issue # such and such or shoptalk live # random number gets everything except what I want, starting on page 1 of 1000.
It’s a bit convoluted but I find this path easier to navigate old issues:
1. Click main menu
2. Click Digital Libraries under the Magazine header
3. Press Log In
4. Press Library under Quick Links at the bottom left
From there you can click on the year and see all issues for that year
Thanks, dstevick, that works.
I thought technology was supposed to make things easier 😆
I mean, I imagine hunting down all the previous issues without this site would take a lot longer than the max 4 hours if you're a slow clicker on dial-up.
Like @ddstevick said, in the digital archive, they're laid out as you'd expect.
If you're looking on the website proper, the easiest way is to always go through the online index.

Just type in the number and click on one of the issue numbers that pop up.
STL... there is no good way right now. It makes no sense to me that there isn't... but here we are.
Thanks, Ben
