I live in the NW Philadelphia suburbs and am having trouble finding someone who can service some of my shop equipment. Between my eyesight and bad knees I can’t do, nor do I know enough to adequately service and or repair my PM 2000 table saw, Grizzley BS or old PM lathe.
I’m looking for a tech who can make a service call to my shop and am willing to pay mileage and a good hourly wage.
Calls to the Powermatic parent company yield either outdated info, companies that do not service PM or companies like Ideal who simply don’t respond.
Any industrial tech mechanics out there who might want some side jobs?
Any help would be appreciated

You may want to call a vocational school, cabinet shop or local high school and ask them.
Thanks for the suggestion, albeit a little ironic. I just retired from being the principal of a high school with a vocational curriculum and complete wood shop. We used Marchetti in Camden for all maintenance and repairs. After the father retired, they don't seem interested in the job either.
I will probably expand my search outside of the area. It is a sad commentary for an area that was once alive with manufacturing, machine shops and technically trained experts.

Is there a woodworking club near you? If you join and meet the folks, you might just meet someone who would be happy to help you out.

Measure your output in smiles per board foot.

Very good suggestion, which I will follow up on. We also have the Phila Furniture School locally that has a superbly equipped wood studio. I'm sure they would be an excellent resource
ThanksRich
You might get some help from the Carpenters union apprenticeship school. They are located in northeast Philadelphia. They have extensive cabinet and millwork machinery. Probably the apprentices themselves can help. Call the union hall for the schools number. The hall itself is on spring garden st in Phila.Between the millwrights, cabinet makers and millmen, there is a wealth of trained people.

Thanks Mike. That is definitely a plan that should yield results.
Thanks again
You wouldn't call the manufacturer, you would call a machinery dealer like Hermance, Byrne, etc. Look in your local yellow pages or web for machine dealers in your area.
