I’ve purchased the Jet 15″ Planer and it needs some fine adjustments – rollers & Blades. What would you recommend to make these fine adjustment and why?
I’ve come across two different ideas, that’s using a One Way Multi-Gauge or a Steel Straight Edge which is guaranteed to deviate less than .001″. One more thing, with the straight edge you use a (?) this thing ranges between .oo1″ to .025″ and its slid between the straight edge and table surface. As you can tell I am new at this.

You can use a block of wood and a set of feeler gauges. Better yet is to invest in a dial indicator and make a base from a block of wood rather than buyng the one way gauge. A straight edge is nice to have but I wouldn't bother with less than a 4'. Pictured are my set-up tools. The blue indicator base is perfect for setting bed rolls, feed rolls, pressure bars and jointer blades. It has a 1/2" convex tip. Indicator and tip can be gotten from Enco for about $17. A base can be made from wood or metal. You cannot buy this base anymore. A shame because it was the best one out there. Check out Wilke and Northfield machiney for a few other ideas on setting devices.
