Jointer Choice Rigid or Steel City
Hello:
I am looking at purchasing my first jointer. I already have a planer, table saw, and router table. My wallet limts me to either the rigid or steel city tool works jointers. The Steel city has granite beds and 1.5hp while the Rigid does not have granite beds and only 1 hp. There are more reviews of the rigid which seem positive. Does anyone have any advice on either one or what direction I should go?
Thanks
Stephen

Jointer choice
I'd recommend taking a look at the Grizzly jointers. I have their 15" planer and it is quite nice. They tend to get good reviews on their jointers. When I break down and replace my 6" Jet jointer, I am going to get an 8" Grizzly/Shop Fox, unless I can snag a decently priced Powermatic on craigslist.
The steel city jointers outfeed tables are not adjustable. I am not familiar with the ridgid but if you can adjust tgw tables I would go that way first. If you like the steel city option look at the menards master force. It is made by steel city for 1/2 the price and the exact same as the one you are looking at.
I live by the steel city headquarters and have bought a few things from them and saw a box for master force and they confirmed they made it.
