Hi:
A few years ago (I think it was 2004, but it could have been a year or two before that) Fine Woodworking ran an article (or it might have been a sidebar to an article) on the differences between universal motors and induction motors. Does anyone remember when this ran/what issue it was in? I would like to look it up.
Thanks

I did a search at FWW.com and found a motor article in #64:

You may need to be a subscriber to access it.
I saw that too, but wouldn't #64 be a quite a few years back? This was fairly recent-3 or so years ago.

That was the only hit I got. What's specifically the attraction of the newer article/sidebar? What is it you need to know???

The attraction is that I think it would help me settle an argument with a know-it-all friend about the merits of various types of table saws.
The other attraction - yes, I'm being lazy here -- is that I know I have it somewhere in my old stack of Fine Woodworking magazines, but after a preliminary search of cover stories I couldn't find it. I was just trying to save myself from thumbing through all of the magazines -- so please don't you do it on my account!

I love thumbing through my old FWW issues, they do have an annual index that helps. How an induction works in in issue 167 p. 96-98.
