What is the difference from “Fine Woodworking Online Membership” and a regular magazine subscription? I get on-line access with my subscription. Dan

I'd like to know something
I'd like to know something about that as well
While I might be wrong, I don't think the magazine subscription provides anything more than "public" access to online features. Online subscribers, in contrast, have access to all of the archived articles and other online member features.
+1 on RalphBarker's comment.
+1 on RalphBarker's comment. As I understand it the dead trees subscription and the online one are independent of each other.
In a way similar to "Make" magazine. You pay $9.99 for a subscribtion to the magazine (which is online only). If you want to see back issues prior to your subscription then you have yo pay another (one time) 9.99 fee.
Hi Dan,
Actually, Online Membership is different from the magazine subscription. Davcefai and Ralph Barker are right.
If you're a magazine subscriber you can still access all our FREE online content, like our blogs (https://www.finewoodworking.com/blogs), gallery (https://www.finewoodworking.com/gallery), free online extras (https://www.finewoodworking.com/pages/fw_feat_onlex.asp), etc.
But we also offer premium online content for Online Members. Online members can get all the magazine content e.g. here are all the articles from our latest issue: https://www.finewoodworking.com/pages/fw_currentissue.asp sans dead trees. But they can also use our extensive archive including more than 1,400 past articles. We also have more than 500 videos on the Web for members only. This includes our video workshop series like our recent Garrett Hack video on building a wall cabinet: https://www.finewoodworking.com/how-to-build-a-tool-cabinet/
(Click here for links to other video workshops: https://www.finewoodworking.com/ProjectsAndDesign/ProjectsAndDesignArticle.aspx?id=31628)
For more on the benefits, check out our Online Member page: https://www.finewoodworking.com/member. This is where we promote special monthly offers and giveaways for members, let people know about our newest members-only video, and preview upcoming member videos.
Thanks, Gina, FineWoodworking.com
How do I get access to all the videos and articles? I subscribe to the magazune and I paid for the online membership.
Thank you

Thanks for subscribing. Here are a couple quick notes with background:
If you're browsing our site and have already been accessing videos and archive articles, I'd guess that you're already using subscription content. If you're a subscriber, you don't get any barrier at all.
If you're not logged in, you may see a small yellow football shaped icon that shows you what's for members only.
If that's not helpful, if you look at the url/address at the top of your Web browser you'll notice the word "subscription" in the path for all subscriber videos and text articles.
You can find numerous subscriber videos here: https://www.finewoodworking.com/woodworking-videos/
Almost all our video workshops here are for subscribers only: https://www.finewoodworking.com/ProjectsAndDesign/ProjectsAndDesignArticle.aspx?id=31628
Most all the links on this page are also for subscribers:
https://www.finewoodworking.com/pages/fw_currentissue.asp
If you find yourself looking at a PDF, that's probably also for subscribers only. With just a few exceptions, all our archive PDF articles are behind the pay wall.

Currently, I have both a magazine subscription and an online subscription. If you do it that way you a discount on the price of the online subscription. However, I've been thinking I'm wasting money doing it this way. If I just get the online subscription I will pay more (no discount) which is close tot he magazine subscription price but I then get access to everything. If you don't keep copies of the magazine, which I don't, why do I need them? I can read online and if I want to have a paper copy of an article I can just print it.
Chuck
I have both as well
I enjoy the magazine. I do not enjoy the online service, it is for information. I use on the online site alot to get answers and help however as I am sitting in my reading chair FW is a relaxed read with close attention to the pictures. I move from FW to AD to Dwell back to FW and then to American Craft and I can always find a thread. I have issues of FW back to #78 although not a complete set. I did realize that I could print articles. My unanswered question is what is the cost of paper, ink , electricity , and wear on the printer? As I make custom pieces as a living I find value in both which of course is not necessary true for all.

I am attempting to cancel my membership before it renews and am having difficulty
Please reach out to customer service. The forum is not a great way of getting that done.

Haaaa... oddly enough it worked out perfectly for him.
Hmmm, wonder if Chuck and Chuck, or WoodLess and samarafc, per their userids, are still members?
I used to pick up the print magazine all the time but I’ve found that they’ve done such a great job of bringing the same design aesthetic to the online version that it’s become my first choice. The video material is well done and with all those back issues available, it’s really a vast resource. I’m very happy that I subscribed.
