I just completed a cedar chest- box is black walnut- top is combination spalted maple, puple heart, black walnut and wenge. I have begun to finish it with tung oil and was planning on finishing it with wax after I’m done with a few coats. I’ve heard that you can combine polyurethane with oil. Is this the case? If so is this a more durable finish? I might want a little more durability especially for the top…I plan on passing the chest on for generations! Any opinions on finishes.
Thanks
I can provide more info if needed.

MJD68,
Last week I had somewhat similar questions and several of the professionals here responded with great information. If you click on messages under 'Finishing' look for 'Oil Finish Formula' on May 19. It may help... Also, 'what to put over tung oil' on May 10 is another good thread...
