Hi.
I have a question regarding finishing drawers. I made some drawers out of baltic birch plywood that are being used in a base cabinet. Is it commom to finish the inside of the drawer? I plan on putting a coat of Poly on the outside of the drawer but am unsure if I should on the inside of the drawer also.

Yes,
Finish the inside. At least with a sealer if nothing else. Even plywood can warp if one face is coated and the other isn't
You might want to use thinned down shellac to finish the inside of the drawers. It's fairly odorless. but does give enough protection. Poly will make the drawers smell weird for a long time.
I dunno if everyone considers it customary, but if you want yer drawers to look good a year or two from now, it would certainly be prudent to finish them.
I have used both water based poly and laquer, preferring the laquer (pre-catalyzed)
The water based poly does not develop any "warmth" but it does dry fast.
One coat ain't gonna be enuf, cause the first coat only freezes the fuzzy fibres so they can be sanded off. Gotta go two coats.
With the water based poly, I've had clients ask me if I finished the inside of the drawers when there were already three coats. It is indeed transparent and colourless.
Never had that question with laquer.
But I did have one client absolutely insistent that the outside of the drawer boxes be stained to match the cabinet though. She thought that was "standard"
