Wax
A hard paste wax is probably all you can do to lessen the wear.

Finish for a hard used dining table
I use oil based gloss floor polyurethane for all my table tops, not just one coat, depending on the use, up to about 20 coats. Sand back to flat all over and do another three coats, then buff with baby powder and a buffing machine to bring out a brilliant shine. Like anything that's used a lot, wear, like another substance, happens. About every 5 years or so, lightly sand back to get the worn surface out, add another three coats and buff.
