Would someone please suggest a good product to finish and protect an exterior wood door? Polyurethane? Marine varnish? or what? If this would make any difference, I live in Southern California, a couple of miles from the ocean.
THANKS!

The most expensive Marine Spar Varnish you can buy. Go to an actual Marine Supplies store. In UV protection and ability to stand up to the elements, quality is directly related to the price. $100 a gallon is not unusual and worth it.The only thing more expensive is Marine underwater hull paint which has copper in it.
Your mileage will vary depending on the elements, but you will need to revarnish several years down the road. It should look beautiful all that time.
Good luck,
Rich
$100 a gallon? Want a second opinion? I agree with Rich. Wood door, ocean air, sunny California - thats a good recipie for problems with a low grade finish.
