I have a headrest in a Maloof style rocking chair which is made up of 8 pieces of crotch walnut. I tried a sample with T & T oil and it seemed too dark… before I do the chair, any thoughts about how to modify the darkened areas>? peace joe

Removing the oil already on the chair - or sealing the wood to keep it as light as possible?

Joe,
Use mineral spirits, a lot of it on the Tried and True oil. It takes forever to polymerize and a lot of it will come out by scrubbing the wood with wet rags. I have nothing positive to say about T&T, but that's for another time.
Let the wood dry and see how you like the color then. Or sand, starting with one grade coarser than you ended with, then the finest grit again.
