I’m looking to buy a nail gun to do some finish carpentry work around the house. I heard that they make ones with batteries instead of an air compressor. Does anyone know about these types of nail guns? Who makes them? Where can I buy one?
thanks,
Dimitri

Dewalt makes one and senco makes either a finish nailer or brad nailer, Paslode also makes one that runs on a battery and fuel cell.
The paslode has been around a long time and is proven as a good tool, the dewalt and senco are both very new and have no track record. I've heard the dewalt will work fine for soft wood but has trouble with hard woods like cherry, oak, etc.
Also, nail availability/price may be a factor to look into. With the size of some of the small compressors and the price of the battery powered guns, I would buy a combo set with the small compressor and finish nailer.
I purchased the 18V DeWalt a couple of months ago, knowing it was heavy. It is the greatest. I use it for finish nailing, but also to tack things in place to continue the process I'm working on. I would never use an air nailer for most of the quick remodeling needs I use the cordless DeWalt on.
How much does it cost for the dewalt?
