I must state at the start that I am grateful for any responses as I know little at about the care of wood. That said here is my situation: I have a small kitchen table (46 x 30) that is about 10 years old. It is a white wood and on the underside it has a stamp that reads Apple. I tink we bought it at Target or Pier One. It never had a gloss finish, looked more like bare wood but felt very smooth so must have some type of finish. Over the years it has pick up a few marks from garden vegetables and such. The top is beginning to look splotchy if you catch the light across it. So….
How do I figure out what if any finish was used on this table?
How do I care for this talbe to keep it usable for many years to come? It is not an expensive table but is well built and the wood is very good.
Thanks for any input.

Finish
Identifying the finish won't help much. To maintain the easiest thing do to is wash down with a scouring pad with soap + water - but not too wet - scrub with the grain. Dry immediately - Then a soft paste wax on top -
