Tis the season… I have made a t-ball bat for my grandson and I have a softball bat for his dad on the lathe. What finish is used on bats?
Thanks

Steroids....they call it 'clear'...lol
You'll have to ask Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire, or Jason Giambi. If that doesn't work, try the Balco Labs website. - lol
Very cool gift idea. I'm not sure what finish bats usually receive. I would be inclined to put on a few coats of wipe on poly.

I know they make stuff that goes on when the piece is in the lathe. Personally, I'd burnish the piece with its own chips/shavings and call it done.
