I am about to put finish on a walnut tabletop. I have used an oilbased sanding sealer as a first coat to help fill the pores. can I use a waterbased poly over the oil based sealer? can I use a lacquer finish?

To the best of my knowledge you cannot put water-borne poly over an oil-based sanding sealer. Stick with the oil-base.
(I believe that the other way around is possible, to put oil over water-borne base coats)
